Overnight on the Balclutha Tall Ship

Camp Cayuse Twilight Camp

Camp Cayuse Twilight Camp - June 21-23, 2012.  Save the date!  Twilight camp runs Thu/Fri, 6pm-9pm & Sat. 9am-4pm.  BB guns, archery, wood & leather projects & fun campfire programs!  Be prepared to volunteer.

CAMP CAYUSE HELP NEEDED: Camp Cayuse is a great program run by volunteers from the entire district.  The current staff is in need of replacements for 2013.  If you are interested in a staff position, you can “shadow the current staffer in 2012” so you are prepared for the next year. Contact CampCayuse@yahoo.com for more info. Camp Pico Blanco

Camp Pico Blanco - July 29 - August 1, 2012.   Save the date for our ONLY Cub Scout sleep-away summer camp!  This year our Pack 111 is going to Camp Pico Blanco in the Monterey Bay area.  They have BB guns, archery, canoeing and swimming, and lots more!  Block those days off work so you can come with your son.  It’s really fun.  In January/February, we will ask for deposits

Cake Bake Contest

The November Pack meeting will be our annual Cake Bake contest. Scouts and their parents decorate a cake, then bring it for judging. The judges will include guest celebrity judges from the community, Boy Scouts, and the Scouts themselves. The categories include: Most Colorful, Most Delicious Looking, Tallest, Best/Most Cub Scout Theme, and Most Patriotic. We also have a winner from each den. You then take your cake home with you! Check out our website davispack111.org under Photos to see pictures of previous cakes. Each participant will get a certificate and a patch! Thank you Fran Leistikow (James and Michael’s mom) for helping with this!

Camping at Lake Camache/Tour of Black Chasm Cavern

October Outing date is no longer tentative and it is not Oct 8, it is now Oct 22-23!  (Date changed so we could get reservations and group rate at cavern) !

Oct 22 daytime event:  Tour of Black Chasm Cavern.  This National Natural Landmark is on Hwy 88 near Volcano.   Walking tour suitable for all ages lasts about 50 minutes.  We have two tour times scheduled: 11 am and 11:20 am.  Come up just for the cave tour or come down the highway part-way for the overnight:

Inner Tubing/Skiing Day!!

Spend a Night on an Aircraft Carrier!

Spend the night aboard the historic World War II Aircraft Carrier USS HORNET.

The Aircraft Carrier USS HORNET Museum is a national treasure, having participated in two of the greatest events of the 20th century -- World War II and the Apollo 11 manned space mission.

Now peacefully moored at historic Alameda Point on San Francisco Bay, the USS HORNET is a timeless memorial to those who defended our American values and to those who have pursued America's technological advancements.

First Party is Scheduled!

Join the Pack 111 Scouts and parents for a barbeque by the pool. This is a great time for all of us to get together and see the other scout families we may not have seen for a few months.

Whether you want to improve your fitness or relax in the sun, the Rec Pool’s distinct shape is able to offer both. They have two lap lanes, two diving boards and an island for fun water activities. Or if you would rather lounge by the pool, they have a large grass area for sunbathing and a shallow wading pool that offers a relaxing, easy-going environment to escape those stressful days.

It is especially a great opportunity for families new to Pack 111 to meet everyone!  To that end, if you know of any incoming or potential scouts, please pass the information along to them.

The pack will provide hamburgers and Hot Dogs to grill and condiments to go with it.

Spend a Night on a Submarine!

Spend the night aboard the historic World War II submarine USS Pampanito (SS-383). This unique experience is open only to organized youth groups. The USS Pampanito is located at Pier 45, at the foot of Taylor Street, in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. On Sunday morning Scouts can visit other parts of the maritime park.

Yolo County Cleanup

  • It's that time of year again: time to roll up your sleeves and help remove trash from local natural areas. Every year hundreds of Yolo residents gather from 9am-noon on the third Saturday of September to remove trash from local waterways trash pickup.

Cache Creek Nature Preserve (http://www.cachecreekconservancy.org/) is a beautiful location in Woodland at 34199 County Road 20 (CR 20 and 94B).  It has lots of trees, a big barn and many opportunities for learning about nature.  We will still be providing the great program you have loved from previous years…wood & leather projects, crafts, evening programs and OF COURSE…BBs & Archery!  We will also include more water activities to beat the summer heat.

Scouting Works - When Everyone Works Together!

Camp Putah

Wolf Den 6 has invited other scouts to join them on an overnight camping trip to Putah Creek on the UC Davis Campus (south of the UCD Airport). Den 6 will be camping Sunday May 24th, but they have a port-o-potty reserved from Friday to Tuesday for anyone who would like to stay over other nights.

September Campout and Service Project

Join us September 19th and/or 20th for an overnight campout at Giant Gap campground near Foresthill. We have reserved enough space for 24 people and if there is additional interest will consider reserving more campsites. Please sign up with April Morris at the September 9th Pack meeting. April will have permission slips and vehicle information forms to fill out as well, so please bring along your auto insurance information. In addition to camping and hiking the pack will be completing a service project by manning an aid station for the Auburn Century Bike Ride on Saturday morning. This is a great opportunity for boys to fulfill requirements toward rank advancement.
